I graduated from High School in June 1995. In August I began college
Greenville, South Carolina. I graduated from college in 1999 with a BS in
Early Childhood Education and a minor in Family and Conusmer Science. I
completed my Master's degree, Administration and Personnel Services,in 2001.
No one seems to know what Administration and Personneal Services is - it
allows me to be an assistant principal, a guidance counselor or a supervisor
at an elementary school.
I was teaching in the public school system in Greenville, SC for six years.
During this time, I have taught first grade and four year old kindergarten.
Four year old kindergarten in public school is very different than what you
might think. The children I taught scored 20% or lower on an assessment
skills test they were required to take. Most of the children at Calico Kids
would pass this test at about two years old. Most of the children I dealt with
spoke only a foreign language or they were children that were from at-risk
backgrounds. I loved my job, but it was time for me to move back home to New
Hampshire. Currently I am teaching afternoon kindergarten at Charlotte Ave.
School in Nashua. I love it! The children at Calico Kids don't even know I'm
gone - I'm there when they are ready for nap, and am usually back when they
are getting up!
I am excited to be able to teach and work with your children throughout the
year instead of only during the summer. I have many fun and exciting
activities planned for this year. I am sure that your children will have a
wonderful year!
