FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions.
I am going to be absent, who do I notify? Teachers: notify your facilitator that they will need to teach your class and find another available parent to facilitate, then e-mail the board at hchboard@yahoo.com or call the co-op cell (253) 906-8192 (Mondays only) Facilitators: find a replacement and notify the teacher. If you are unable to find a replacement let the teacher know and notify a board member. Even if you do not teach or facilitate notify a board member of your absence so that your job(s) may be covered. Yippee! After the happy dance from your kids, follow the Peninsula School District schedule. If they are delayed or canceled we will NOT have Co-op. Their schedule is updated by 6:00am on Monday. Can my public school children attend co-op on school breaks? No unregistered students may attend co-op. If your older child(ren) are in public school and we have co-op on one of their holidays you will need to find alternate care or opt to stay home from co-op that day. What if I'm sick, can I send my children with another mom? All children must be accompanied by one of their parents or grandparents. Sending children with other co-op families means there are not enough parents available to do the jobs that make co-op run smoothly. I need to run to the store or make a Dr. appt during co-op, what do I do? You will need take all of your children with you, they cannot be left with a friend or board member. Why is the board strict about parents being with their kids? We are a cooperative which means we need all parents to be involved and helping with the many tasks that make co-op run smoothly. It takes many hands working together to make this a successful association and not more burdensome on any one person or small group of persons. 1. Go to the home page of this site and click on the blue mailbox in the upper right hand corner. 2. E-mail us at hchboard@yahoo.com (Yep, we really do check it everyday!) 3. You can call one of the board members directly. Who are the Advisory Board members? Katrina Brown, Cathy Hodges, Lori Lee and Dana Repp Can we attend after classes have started in September? Yes, you can. It will depend on availability of spots in the classes you are wanting. Our classes usually have a maximum of 12 students. They are in each class to assist the teacher. It is up to the teacher in how they utilize their facilitator. The facilitator is responsible for taking roll, collecting tuition from parents and taking over the class in the event that the teacher is absent. What if I need an overhead projector or TV with DVD/VCR or the kitchen? There are two books located at the information table next to the family files. You can sign up by date and period for TV/DVD/VCR and reserve the kitchen if it is available that hour. What classroom supplies do I, as a teacher, need? You will need to bring your own white board markers, erasers, paper, pencils, pens, glue, paper clips, staplers, rulers and rubber bands. You should use your materials fees to cover the cost of these things. Adults: Cell phones must be turned off in any and all classes. Students may not have a cell phone or use one as a calculator for classes. What qualifications do you need to teach? All teachers must know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, attend church regularly, and be in agreement with the HCH Mission Statement and Statement of Faith. Who is responsible for clean up? All teachers and facilitators are responsible for restoring their classroom to it's original condition after every class. If necessary, the room should be vacuumed and not left for the last teacher of the day. Why does my oldest child have to be at least 7 years old? We try to make co-op classes available for older students to encourage homeschooling through high school. The lower grade levels down to nursery care are available to enrich their siblings as well. If all of the lower level classes are filled then we are not able to serve the older children because there is no place for their younger siblings during their class hours. |
